"I am shocked over how many times we used this- on the plane, on her stroller during off-hour daytime naps, at the pool, ON A BOAT!
She slept through it all. If you are on the fence, let this be your sign to buy it!"

Local business woman, Emma Lovell is nominated for National AusMumpreneur Awards

Emma Lovell from Fly Babee has been nominated for the 2016 St George Banking Group AusMumpreneur Awards.

The AusMumpreneur Awards presented by The AusMumpreneur Network celebrate and recognize Australian Mums in business achieving outstanding success in areas such as business excellence, product development, customer service and digital innovation. The awards are designed to recognize the growing number of women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their life and family.

Fly Babee was born when I found a problem and wanted to find a way to fix it.
Travelling with a baby is hard and trying to get them to sleep when you’re out and about and breaking routine is even harder. I didn’t wake up and think – “I want to start my own business”. The discovery of the problem kept burning away inside of me until I started playing around with ideas on how to make parenting easier. The business developed around me really as I set about making my prototype and eventually started manufacturing.

Emma states: “If you thinking of starting a business when you’re also raising a small family, the first thing you need to know is that it won’t be plain sailing. The most important thing is to go in to your venture with your eyes wide open and expect hard work and long hours. However, if you’re realistic and plan very carefully, you can reap the benefits of being your own boss.”

Emma’s advice to mothers who are starting a business whilst juggling a family:

  • Make sure you have the support you need – don’t be shy to as family and friends for help with the kids whilst you work. If they’re not available, make sure you set up day care… you need a backup!
  • Plan your days well, but be prepared for the best laid plans to get turned upside down. Don’t let this throw you off course – just reset. I end every day with writing a To-Do list for the following day… but if everything doesn’t get done, just roll it over.
  • Lastly - Be brave! You rarely get anywhere in life by constantly playing it safe!
